Lori Baugh Littlejohns lives, works, plays and paints in Invermere, British Columbia. She has painted for over 20 years and has been blessed with many mentors, especially the incomparable watercolorist Donna Jo Massie from Canmore, Alberta. Lori paints in oil from spring to fall and turns to watercolors in the winter. Mountains almost always figure prominently. She is a lifelong learner and has recently explored painting with pastels and sculpting with driftwood. Lori has sold her paintings through art events in the Columbia Valley such as Tour of the Arts. Currently, she is semi-retired and is a CV Arts volunteer. Lori combines her work experience in facilitating learning in groups, with her love and enjoyment of painting to lead workshops as fundraisers for CV Arts.

Jennifer Bowes, alongside her family, runs a fibre sheep operation in Brisco, BC. With a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta, she spent 13 years teaching Fine Arts, including five years running an art program in Dawson Creek. Jennifer’s passion for textiles began during her travels through Great Britain, Italy, Turkey, and Nepal, where she immersed herself in the world of spinning, weaving, and fiber arts. This love for textiles naturally led her to raising sheep and working with wool—blending her artistic background with her deep appreciation for natural fibers. Since relocating to Brisco in 2019, Jennifer has been inspired by the beauty of the Columbia Wetlands, which continues to shape her creative practice.

Creation of felted birds with Jennifer Bowes.
In this workshop, participants will make a 3D bird made completely from wool, using needle felting. The base shape will be provided for a small local bird, for example a chickadee or nuthatch.
Participants can add details and colour to match the details of the type of bird they choose. The majority of the wool is locally sourced and the workshop taught by local sheep producer, Jennifer Bowes. She has a sheep farm, located in Brisco. Her property is a popular stop over for migratory birds and is one of the areas featured for birdwatching in the area.

Capture Your Wild Spirit!
Have you ever wanted to paint a wild animal and truly bring its wild spirit to the page? Now you can!
In this workshop we’ll tackle one of my favourite subjects: the bull moose. I’ll work with you to help you let loose with your brushstrokes and infuse your painting with raw, expressive energy!
We’ll begin by laying down a background colour on our canvases, then sketching and blocking the image of the moose
We’ll follow that up by creating several layers, mark-making and using inks, various mediums and glosses. We’ll use acrylic paint, oil paint, collage/stencils and glaze with transparent point. Each layer will make your painting richer, deeper and more expressive.
I’ll also share techniques for adding opaque oil paint for highlights and fine details to really bring your painting to life — almost like it’s coming off the canvas
By the end of the weekend you’ll have more than just a painting — you’ll have a wild, expressive image you can display with pride!
